What are stickers and labels used for?

A sticker shouldn’t just look good. It needs to be suited to the place where people will see it: on a product, on packaging, in a shop window, in a set of instructions or on promotional material.

Products

Labels that help you identify a product and quickly understand what’s important.

Packaging

Stickers for boxes, bags, jars or other packaging.

Instructions

Brief texts on usage, safety, composition or maintenance.

Special offers

Visible stickers for offers, limited quantities or campaigns.

Labelling

Information stickers for shop windows, shelves, equipment or parcels.
Small format, big responsibility

The sticker must work at actual size

A sticker may seem simple – until you actually have to print it. You need the right size, contrast, bleed, legible text and a file that the printer can use without any problems.

Readability

The text must be legible at the actual size of the sticker, not just on the screen.

Pre-press

The correct dimensions, bleed, colours and file format are required.

Compatibility with the product

The sticker should look as though it is part of the product or the overall communication strategy.

The size must be a specific format, not an estimate.

The contrast must ensure that the text is legible from a normal viewing distance.
The file has been prepared in accordance with the printer’s requirements.

Example

When a label needs to be not only attractive, but also technically print-ready

Bitė Zazaiza's mead label project demonstrates that label design is often more than just a pretty picture. This project involved creating a label system for four flavours, maintaining a single luxurious aesthetic, adapting different backgrounds and preparing a non-standard cutting outline for the printer.

A product range

The four flavours were to differ in colour and mood, whilst at the same time appearing to be part of the same family of labels.

Non-standard cut

The label was not a simple rectangle, so the print shop needed a precise vector cutting line.

Files for the print shop

In addition to the individual PDF label files, an additional PDF with a vector cutting outline was prepared.
What matters

Decisions that determine whether a sticker will be used in practice

Before starting the layout, it is worth defining not only the overall direction but also the technical constraints. This helps to avoid text that is too small, an unsuitable format, or a file that will need to be corrected later.
1

Size

How much space the text, logo and required information actually have.
2

Material

Paper, transparent film, and glossy or matt surfaces alter the appearance.
3

Form

A rectangle, a circle, a contour cut or a sheet of stickers.
4

Text

The smaller the format, the more you need to decide what really needs to stay.
5

Contrast

Colours must be visible not only on the monitor, but also on the actual packaging.
6

Print files

Dimensions, bleed, the cutting line and export must meet the printer's requirements.
Scope of the service

What is included in sticker layout

It’s not just a matter of designing a nice sticker. The most important thing is that the layout is legible, in the correct format, checked against printing requirements and physically ready for use.

Place of use

We discuss what the sticker will be used for, for example, on a product, packaging, a shop window, instructions or a promotion.

Information

The text, logo, markings and necessary information are finalised.

Design

A design is created for a sticker, label or series of labels that complements the product or the overall look.

Printing requirements

The layout, size, bleed, colours and any other requirements specified by the chosen printer are reviewed.

Revisions

The text, layout, contrast and visual details are being refined.

Print files

Files are prepared for printing in accordance with the agreed format and the printer’s requirements.

Cutting contour

If necessary, a separate cutting outline or technical file is prepared for the printer.

Price range

How much does it cost to design a sticker?

The price depends on the format, the amount of text, the number of stickers, any corrections, non-standard shapes, the die-cut outline, and whether any additional pre-press work is required.

One sticker or label

from €45
Suitable when you need a single, neat layout for a product, packaging or promotional material.
  • format and intended use
  • text and logo layout
  • file as required

Sticker series

from €120
Suitable for a product range, multiple sizes, non-standard shapes or different labels within the same system.
  • a single visual system
  • several options or formats
  • a consistent look for the packaging
What affects the price
  • number of stickers and number of formats
  • whether a cutting outline or technical file is needed
  • the amount of text, icons and mandatory information
  • whether the printer has specific technical requirements
Let’s discuss

Do you need a layout for a sticker, label or product line?

Please let us know what the sticker or label will be used for, what size is needed, whether a non-standard cut is required and what files the printer asks for. This helps assess the scope, format and price range.
If you have any technical specifications from the printer, a sample of the cut-out outline, a photograph, a logo or the packaging dimensions, it is worth including them with your enquiry.
